When you want to try a new product you can get free samples of most products from the manufacturer’s website. Freebies are easy to get. You can fill your mailbox every day with free samples of anything from laundry detergent to cereal. All you have to do to get all the freebies that you can handle is sign up as a member who wants to be informed of all free samples, and they will start sending them to you on a regular basis.
Generally, you will need to give them your name, address (so they can send your freebies), and your email (so that they can send you future offers). You should create a new email account to receive all your freebies. Or, your general email may be overwhelmed. Once you have signed up, you will fill your mailbox everyday with all the freebies that you can handle.
Free samples are also given out at grocery stores. They generally have an employee handing out the freebie and it is usually food, but it is a marketing tactic to give out free samples of the product you want. This is a try it to buy it approach.
If you like the samples, you may do two things. First, you may purchase the item and become a long term customer. Second, they are counting on you telling your friends and family, which brings more customers to the table. This is a form of free advertising. If even one person chooses to buy the item, you have helped them to advertise by word of mouth.
Companies who give out free samples are testing the waters on new and/or improved products. They are trying to market the items by giving them out as free. The cost of providing freebies far outweighs the cost of giving the product away as a free sample.
